This week has definitely had a spring time feel to it. Maybe it’s the fact that so many of my friends are taking vacations to warm places or maybe it’s that the bulbs are coming up in the front garden, but I have had spring on the brain. The other day I went out without a jacket (a choice I regretted nearly instantly) because I was sure the sun was out so it must be warm (spoiler: sun does not always equal warmth).
Anyways, this covet list is all about spring things.
First, I did invest in the Lipstick Queen “Medieval Queen” and it is so good. It’s smooth, doesn’t dry out your lips and isn’t sticky. These have to be the worst types of lipsticks (I can’t decide which is worst— dry or sticky), and this one is neither. I wear it all the time because it is so flattering. Check back soon because I’ll be doing a post about it! Anyway, I was scrolling through Birchbox the other night and I found Lipstick Queen Hello Sailor.
It’s blue, which is just so cool to me, but I’m not nearly brave enough to add blue lipstick to my everyday (or to my any day other than Halloween). However, being a good researcher, I looked up reviews and found this gem. Cooper Neu cracked me up with this video, I loved her reactions (so much so that now my husband and I are doing “lipstick lady” reactions to impressive things). So, I’m currently coveting Hello Sailor lipstick— it’s blue, but it goes on a nice berry shade that makes your teeth look really white. I really like the idea of a berry lipstick to shake things up for spring, because everyone goes for pink this time of year.
As a lover of Zara, I want pretty much everything from the SS16 collection, but I have selected a few favourites. Below is the promotional video for the collection, which is completely gorgeous.
Zara’s Tie Dye Dress is great for spring because it is a piece that isn’t so obvious (i.e not floral, but has a bright, optimistic feel to it). It would be a great transitional piece too— I can see it with a navy turtle neck underneath for winter. Zara’s website suggests wearing this with cross metallic sandals, but I think wedges would be much more romantic (save the metallics for high summer).
To quote The Devil Wears Prada, “Florals? For spring? Ground breaking.” But such as it is. This dress, again from Zara, is nice because it is floral without being full on rose garden. I think the dark background makes it a little more business friendly as well. It still has that nice floaty softness that screams warm weather, though. I am really in love with those mule sandals as well.
For those of you that don’t have a Bloglovin account, I suggest you get on it. It’s a free way to find new blogs to follow, plus there is a blog store where you can find products that have been featured in blogs on the site. I found these Kate Spade earrings on the Bloglovin shop and I think they are just so fresh and spring like.
I always think romance when I think about spring, and nothing says romance like lips. They are very versatile too, in my mind, they could go with a nice flowing dress or could spice up a business suit.
Last, but not least, I’m in love with Toms. I love the cause, I love the simplicity, and I love all the patterns. I always get excited to see the new season’s shoes and this spring does not disappoint. These florals, again with the floral, are so bright and could really add something to a casual outfit. For those who worry about light colour shoes these come in a nice black as well. My husband often accuses me of liking “nana” things and this is a prime example of a pattern that calls to my inner nana.
So there you have it, guys! Let me know what you think, and if you see something that has caught your eye please leave a comment.
